If you’re in West Texas and banking on catching a flight with Delta Airlines , be prepared to be left hanging.

Nothing personal.

But beginning this November, the airline will permanently shut down service at Midland International Air and Space Port (MAF), ending the three daily flights it launched last year to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS).

This severs a key connection and is officially Delta’s full retreat from the region.

This is all due to Delta adjusting its network to match demand. CEO Edward Bastian had hinted that the airline would continue to play with capacity despite its reports of strong earnings in the second quarter of 2025. For MAF though, the problem is most likely low passenger numbers.
