COLUMBIA, S.C. — A vacant lot along the 900 block of Harden Street could soon see new life as part of a proposed redevelopment project in Columbia’s Five Points district.

Bow Truss Capital is proposing a new single-story, 6,800-square-foot commercial building for the site, which sits between Harden and Walnut streets and is surrounded by other businesses.

A similar plan was approved in 2020, but developers reworked the layout to better fit the pedestrian area. The updated design includes a large patio, screened parking, and new landscaping to create a more walkable streetscape.

“It would be great for business,” said Johnnie Gray, manager of Big Dave’s. “We need more business, more flow of traffic here. And it’d be great for every business along the strip right here.”
