COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSAZ) – A judge in Franklin County, Ohio, put a temporary pause on Gov. Mike DeWine’s ban on intoxicating hemp products.
The 90-day ban was set to take effect on Tuesday, but the judge sided with three businesses who sued over the executive order -- saying the governor overstepped his authority and caused chaos for the industry.
The ban specifically targeted products like THC-infused gummies and beverages.
DeWine took to social media in response to the judge’s decision, saying, “Ohio voters approved a highly regulated market when they passed Issue 2, and that does not include the sale of THC products in these other venues.”
The governor said he will continue to fight in court and push for the general assembly to pass permanent legislation about intoxicating hemp.
