HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - An update last night occurred on efforts to clean up two retention ponds in Huntington, and hopefully cut down on flooding issues for people in certain parts of the city.

We first told you the issue with the retention ponds at Kinetic Park in August.

The city says the ponds are meant to be dredged every five years, but two of the ponds have not been dredged since 2016.

At last night’s city council meeting, mayor Patrick Farrell said dredging should be starting sometime this week for the retention ponds, and that roughly 3,000 cubic yards will need to be cleaned up during this project.
