LEAWOOD, Kan. —

More than 100 people gathered Tuesday night to pray for a young boy critically injured when his electric scooter was hit by a car in Leawood.

The crash happened around 6 p.m. Monday near Lee Boulevard and West 103rd Street. Police said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Advertisement

According to a GoFundMe shared by family members , the child suffered a severe head injury and a fractured leg. He remains hospitalized in critical condition.

At the vigil, community members, including classmates and neighbors, gathered to pray and offer support to the boy’s family.

A pastor urged people to show up, help in any way they can, and contact police if they saw the crash.
