A second Canberra university has found former and current staff have been underpaid.
University of Canberra vice-chancellor Bill Shorten apologised to staff on Wednesday, October 15, after finding 1421 professional casual staff had not received overtime or minimum shift entitlements.
The university said the payroll system did not automatically apply the entitlements and now owes staff $1.522 million.
The underpayments have been going on since 2019, and on average, each employee is owed around $400.
Underpayments were found after a "comprehensive review" and affect staff superannuation.
"Current and former professional casual staff who have not been paid correctly have my full assurance that remediation will commence immediately, and I'm committed to clearing up any previous problem
