TALLADEGA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - October racing is back at Talladega this weekend with three major races at the superspeedway. Fans are gearing up for what will be a high stakes weekend of racing.

WBRC reporter Josh Gauntt and photographer Andy Huling got a chance to ride in the pace car with Brian Crichton, the president of the Talladega Superspeedway, on Tuesday.

They made a few laps around the iconic 2.66 mile track that features 33-degree banking. At one point, they were going 113 mph down a straightaway.

We asked what sets Talladega apart from the rest of the tracks around the country.

“It’s the superspeedway racing. It’s the tight packed. It’s the two, three, four wide racing, but it’s also the iconic infield right in there. The fans that come here make this place so special,” Cricht
