L’ANSE — After nine losses in a row, the L’Anse Purple Hornets volleyball team finally put a win together on the court on Monday. They swept the visiting Bessemer Speedgirls, 3-0 (25-18, 25-12 and 25-23).

“We have been working on staying focused on what we need to do on the court, and that all seemed to come together tonight,” said Purple Hornets coach McKenna Monticello. “I liked how we moved the ball around the court tonight.”

That good ball movement started early on in the first set with a Purple Hornets lead. It became a six-point advantage courtesy of L’Anse’s Dalanna Conner. She served up one of her six aces off of 11 serves for point 21.

She didn’t stop there but rather posted four more points for the set win.
