Honda Aircraft Co. said Monday it has successfully completed a test flight with its HondaJet aircraft using a blend of 100% sustainable aviation fuel.
The aircraft operated with a mix of hydroprocessed esters and fatty acids synthetic paraffinic kerosene (HEFA-SPK) and hydrodeoxygenated synthetic aromatic kerosene (HDO-SAK), biofuels derived from animals, plants or waste.
The test flight was conducted at Piedmont Triad International Airport.
The manufacturer sits on a 133-acre campus at PTI, where it has spent more than $245 million on its hub and has more than 1,500 employees, including 723 full- and 93 part-time employees in Guilford County.
Under the joint venture, Honda Aero Inc. produces the engine in Burlington.
HondaJets have flown on SAF blends of up to 50%.
