Logan Diaz’s golden goal in overtime proved all the difference, as tenth-seeded Mahwah notched a 2-1 victory over seventh-seeded Fort Lee in first round Bergen County Tournament action in Fort Lee.

The Thunderbirds needed an equalizer with just 1:20 left by Chase Hawthorne just to force the extra period. Mahwah will take on second-seeded Ramapo in quarterfinal action on Saturday.

A second half goal by Yerik Blanco gave the lead to Fort Lee, which dropped to 9-2 with the defeat.
