Bank closures are becoming something of the norm across the UK high street - a much welcome or a sad move depending on how you go about organising your financial affairs.
Several banks, including NatWest, Santander , and Lloyds Banking Group have announced branch closures in Scotland for 2025, impacting various towns.
Lloyds is going another step further now, however, as it is preparing to axe 218 bank branches throughout the UK in 2025, in a decision that will affect customers of Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and the Bank of Scotland .
A further 71 closures are planned for 2026, taking the total number of branch shutdowns to 289 by the end of next year. The branches in the firing line for next year have not yet been confirmed.
