Martin Lewis has urged householders to ditch a ‘demon appliance’ which, reportedly, spikes energy bills . The finance expert said the one appliance householders should refrain from using will help them to avoid soaring costs this winter. ‌

Speaking on his BBC Radio 5 podcast previously, Martin told listeners to follow his money-saving tips as temperatures drop. It was reported earlier this week that many are starting the winter period owing their energy suppliers. ‌

According to a survey by USwitch, households owe a staggering £780 million to their energy suppliers. This is the highest debt level in eight years. The comparison site reported that around 3.5 million households owe money to their provider - up 46% from the 2.4 million last year. ‌
