CONCORD, N.C. (WBTV) - Despite it being more than seven months away, representatives from Charlotte Motor Speedway are already working on preparations for the 2026 Coca-Cola 600.
The annual race not only showcases the best drivers in NASCAR, but it also honors the United States Armed Forces.
Representatives from the speedway said the 2026 race on Memorial Day weekend will hold special significance because the entire country will be celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Chuck Swannack, a retired Army major general and vice president of armed forces affairs at Speedway Motorsports, spoke about the importance of honoring the military during the Coca-Cola 600.
