CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A person was shot and killed near a major highway in northwest Charlotte late Tuesday night.

Police said the Oct. 14 shooting happened around 10:45 p.m. along , which is right off Brookshire Boulevard near I-85.

When officers arrived, they found a male -- whose name and age was not immediately given -- with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.

It was not immediately clear what led up to the shooting, nor if any suspects had been arrested.

Investigators blocked off the road while they collected evidence, and at one point appeared to focus on a gold car, although it was not clear if the vehicle was in any way related to the case.
