JACKSON COUNTY, Ga. — An eighth person was pronounced dead in a north in Jackson County, according to the Jackson County Coroner's Office.

Officials said that all eight people that died were inside of a Dodge minivan that was rear-ended by a tanker semi-truck that was following too close behind.

The ages of all eight victims range from 2 to 42 years old, and all victims are from the same family, the coroner's office confirmed to 11Alive.

The crash caused a chain reaction, leading to six vehicles being hit. The Dodge van, however, was engulfed by flames. The Georgia State Patrol initially said seven people inside were pronounced dead at the scene. Officials later discovered the eight victim.
