Tropical Storm Lorenzo is expected to dissipate by Thursday without reaching land, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
Lorenzo had already weakened some by 4 a.m. Wednesday, producing sustained winds of 40 mph. Forecasters said an intrusion of wind shear and dry air will continue tearing the system apart through next day.
The system was not expected to impact the Gulf Coast, and State Climatologist Jay Grymes said Wednesday morning that no tropical activity is expected to reach Louisiana for at least the next seven days.
