QUINCY (WGEM) - The first phase of pool renovations are moving full steam ahead at the Quincy YMCA.

Contractors are focusing on the building’s roof and exterior, sandblasting support beams before applying a protective coating. While messy, the work is critical to preventing corrosion and structural problems in the future.

If weather permits, the project’s first phase should be completed by the end of the year according to Quincy YMCA CEO Curtis Sethaler. He believes the dust and noise will ultimately be worth the trouble once the pool is restored.
