GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A warning from the Wisconsin State Patrol, urging you to keep an especially close eye on the road -- and sides of the road -- for deer.

They tell the First Alert Safety Desk they’re seeing deer become more active, which means a greater risk for crashes.

In 2024, there were more than 17,000 crashes in Wisconsin involving deer. Nine people were killed and more than 700 hurt.

A third of those crashes happened in October and November.

The DOT gave us a list of which counties had the most deer impacts last year.

In our area, Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, Outagamie, Manitowoc and Winnebago counties all were in the top 10.

Deer are unpredictable, so it’s important to know what to do to avoid a crash.
