CANTON ‒ Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital was the target of a bomb threat on the evening of Oct. 14.
A male caller threatened to blow up the building if he was not given $200 in cryptocurrency credit cards, a Canton police report said.
"He did eventually get upset and hung up," the report said.
In a prepared statement, the hospital said it was made aware of the threat at 6:48 p.m.
"Canton Police were notified immediately and worked in close collaboration with our Cleveland Clinic Police Department and hospital personnel to ensure the safety of our patients, visitors and employees," it said. "The hospital remained open for patient care and the threat was cleared by Cleveland Clinic and Canton Police.”
