A man murdered his girlfriend by stabbing her at least 26 times at his mum's remote Scottish island home will be jailed for life. ‌

Aren Pearson, 41, knifed Claire Leveque , 24, in a hot tub at his mother's home in Sandness, Shetland , on February 11 2024. ‌

Jurors at the High Court in Edinburgh heard how 19 of the stab wounds were inflicted on Claire’s face and neck. The deadly attack took place at the end of a campaign of domestic abuse which he waged on Claire, who he claimed to "love". ‌

Claire told Pearson she'd come to Scotland from her home in Canada but was subjected to physical assaults and subjected to verbal abuse by the brute.
