The use of pre-covid data in modelling for the proposed Cambourne to Cambridge (C2C) Busway project has been criticised by a witness called by objectors. Steve Johnstone, engineering director at Lawrence Walker Limited, told the public inquiry this week (October 14) it was now a “completely different world” with more people not travelling than before the Covid pandemic.
He argued that without rebasing the modelling on the “most accurate post covid” information they did not know if the scheme in its current form “is actually needed”. However, Mr Johnstone faced pushback from the legal representative for Cambridgeshire County Council who pointed out that Mr Johnstone had not looked at bus usage data specifically in the Greater Cambridge area.
