Cambridgeshire caravan sites were visited by staff at South Cambridgeshire District Council on Wednesday (October 15). The visit intended to make sure the site meets planning regulations.

Council staff spoke to people living in around 100 caravans across different sites at Fen Road. They checked who was living there and whether the number of caravans on each site matched the total number permitted.

A council spokesperson said: "This proactive step follows concerns that authorised pitches were being used for purposes that they had not been approved for. It forms part of the Council’s wider action to ensure Gypsy and Traveller sites are safe, lawful, and used for their intended purpose in line with planning policies."
