Lisa Nandy accused Richard Holden of “shouting like an angry man in a pub” as the pair clashed on live TV over the China spy row .

The culture secretary at one point had to tell the Tory frontbencher to “calm down” as he continued his rant on the BBC’s Politics Live programme.

The clash came amid the ongoing political row over the collapse of the case against two men accused of spying on the UK for China.

The Tories have accused the government of deliberately failing to give the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) the evidence it requested so as to avoid damaging Britain’s relationship with Beijing.

But Downing Street has instead blamed the last Conservative government for failing to officially classify China as a “threat” to the UK.
