The Consumer Product Safety Commission is advising consumers to stop using several types of bed rails immediately. The items in question have not been officially recalled by the manufacturer, however the CPSC says you should discard them right away as the death of one user has been linked to one of the devices.
In a release issued Oct. 10, the CPSC warned consumers about four types of OasisSpace adult portable bed rails. The agency warns that users can become entrapped within the bed rail or between the rail and mattress. That can create an asphyxiation hazard, posing a risk of serious injury or death.
The 2023 death of an 81-year-old Ohio woman has been linked to one of the bed rails.
The four models that the CPSC says should not be used are:
