The Phoenix City Council will vote Oct. 15 on a $1.2 million settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit stemming from the 2019 fatal shooting of a man police mistook for a murder and kidnapping suspect.

Henry Rivera, 30, and his family were staying at a motel near 20th Avenue and Van Buren Street when Phoenix police officers on March 13, 2019, were tracking down a man they believed was involved in a violent crime spree the night before.
