TORRINGTON, CT (WFSB) - A person was found dead in a home in Torrington during a response to a fire, police confirmed.

Police and the Torrington Fire Department responded to 27 Marvin St. on Wednesday around 8:20 a.m.

When they arrived, they reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the home.

“Crews initiated fire suppression efforts and conducted a search of the interior,” police said in their report. “One individual was located inside the residence and was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

Police said the identity of the victim was withheld because they were in the process of notifying next of kin.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
