Statesville police seized a handgun, wigs, masks and batons from a car following a chase in the West Front Street area on Friday.

Casey O’Neil Wyatt, 40, of Statesville, is charged with felony flee to elude, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of burglary tools, careless and reckless driving, driving while license revoked, unsafe lane change and resist, obstruct and delay an officer, the Statesville Police Department said in a news release.

Statesville police officers were helping a driver whose vehicle broke down around West Front Street shortly before 1 a.m. on Friday. While assisting the motorists, the officers saw a silver BMW traveling eastbound. The BMW was swerving and crossing the centerline of the road, Statesville police said.
