TOLEDO, Ohio — Whirlpool announced on Wednesday that it plans to make a multi-million dollar investment in its U.S. laundry manufacturing facilities, a move that it said would create between 400 and 600 jobs at two Ohio plants.
In a press release, Whirlpool said it plans to ramp up production at facilities in Clyde and Marion following a $300 million investment in its domestic manufacturing footprint.

"You will in some of these investments see a big transformational change in factories, different layout, a lot of automation, which helps take unsecured jobs away," said Marc Bitzer, the CEO of Whirlpool. "We are basically changing the entire layout of factories, but we're also adding new products, so you will see a lot of exciting new products."
