TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The City of Tucson’s Serving Together and Rebuilding (STAR) Village outdoor safe sleeping site opened Wednesday with comprehensive security measures designed to provide temporary housing for 25 women and nonbinary individuals experiencing homelessness.

The pilot program, primarily managed by the Primavera Foundation, is located at 244 E. Grant Road.

Organizers say there will be multiple layers of security including 24/7 surveillance cameras, on-site staff monitoring, partnerships with local law enforcement, and patrols extending one mile from the facility. The site operates as a secure campus with no walk-ups, visitors, or drugs allowed.
