The upper section of Going-to-the-Sun Road, the scenic alpine highway that bisects Glacier National Park, has closed for the season.
Park officials posted the announcement to Glacier's website Tuesday, after the first winter storm of the year dropped snow in many high-elevation parts of the state.
Going-to-the-Sun Road, which climbs to 6,646 feet of elevation to cross the Continental Divide at Logan Pass, has variable opening and closing dates depending on weather conditions. Footage from a webcam at the pass , maintained by the Glacier National Park Conservancy, showed snowy conditions remained Wednesday morning at the parking lot and popular Hidden Lake Trailhead.
