Flags on all state government buildings will be flown at half-staff on Wednesday in memory of retired New York State Police Trooper Mark A. Ondus, as ordered by New York Gov. Kathy Hochul.

Ondus served as a state police trooper for 26 years before his retirement on Jan. 20, 2021.

Trooper Ondus died on Oct. 9, 2025 from an illness stemming from the attack on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
