QUINCY (WGEM) - The Quincy City Council approved a bid to begin removing hazardous trees.

Dead and diseased trees are all across the city of Quincy. With that, there comes the risk of parts of those trees falling onto the city right of right-of-ways.

“This is the worst I’ve seen. The last couple years we’ve noticed trees dying, and I think it really all started with the real dry summer we had,” said Quincy Public Works Director Jeffrey Conte.

According to Conte, the problem became serious once the city’s bucket trucks broke down. Along with that, Conte said one of the city’s best tree cutters went down injured. Those are just some of the factors Conte said have led to the issue.
