BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Seeing the doctor is never fun, whether you're a kid, an adult, or a tiger. Brandy Struecker is the doctor whom the tigers, penguins, and every other animal at the Dakota Zoo see. Brandy is the veterinary technician for the Dakota Zoo, assisting in the care and vaccination of over 500 animals from 125 different species.
Struecker is the only veterinary technician at the Dakota Zoo working with two veterinarians and a team of 12 handlers, and says she wouldn't have it any other way. "I love working with the variety of species," Struecker said. A job where every day is different, "I'm involved in everything from quarantined animals to animals on medication."
Struecker stressed there really is no such thing as a typical day when you're working with that many animals.
