A woman will face court over the alleged theft of some speciality wigs meant for children with cancer in Melbourne .

The alleged incident took place in a business on Lennox Street, Richmond, at about 3.30pm on September 22.

It's alleged the woman entered the business and put four wigs into her jacket and a bag and left the store, accompanied by a man waiting outside for her.

The wigs were in the reception area as they were about to be taken to hospital and given to children with cancer.

Yesterday morning, police executed a warrant at a property in Clayton south and arrested a 45-year-old woman.

She was charged with theft and committing an offence on bail. 

She will appear in court on October 30.

The investigation is ongoing.
