Springfield city councilor airs concerns about lack of park grant applications

SPRINGFIELD — One city councilor is airing concerns that city officials failed to apply for federal and state grants to improve parks this year that they have received in the past.

But officials said they declined to apply for state Parkland Acquisitions and Renovations for Communities grants this year because of local budget constraints . Additionally, a federal grant they have had success with was suspended this year.
