SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) - As we move into mid October, we’ve officially passed the peak of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. While this year has brought its share of storms, the impacts on our region have fortunately been limited. This doesn’t mean we can let our guard down just yet.
A Look Back
So far in the 2025 season, we’ve reached the “L” storm on the official naming list, with a total of: • 12 named storms • 4 hurricanes • 3 major hurricanes (Category 3 or higher)
These numbers place us just below average for this point in the season. Typically, a full hurricane season brings around 14 named storms, 7 hurricanes, and 3 major hurricanes. So while we're right on target for major hurricanes, we’re still slightly behind in overall storms and hurricanes.
