DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County's Board of Education on Wednesday voted to accept the resignation of DeKalb County school superintendent Dr. Devon Horton after being charged in a federal indictment.

His resignation will be effective Nov. 15, according to a release from the DeKalb County School District obtained by 11Alive's Grace King.

Dr. Horton was accused of being involved in a scheme with three of his friends to defraud a northern Illinois school district of money, according to a federal indictment.

He was initially placed on administrative leave after being federally indicted in Illinois last week.
