WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Despite the government shutdown, members of the U.S. military are getting paid.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson said the Pentagon was able to find funds to make Wednesday’s payday, but it’s “not an enduring solution.”
“We will run out of the funds,” the speaker said.
He warns that service members could miss a paycheck at the end of the month if the shutdown continues.
There are 15,000 soldiers at Fort Drum getting paychecks, which is millions of dollars for the local economy.
