The United States issues travel advisories for every country based on known risks to the safety of U.S. citizens, and these can change at a moment's notice. For instance, the U.S. Department of State updated its warning for the Maldives only a few days ago, citing terrorism. The department's most recent advisory update, however, was on October 14, 2025, for a South American country best known as the home of the Galápagos Islands: Ecuador.
Although there was no change to the advisory level, which remains at Level 2: "Exercise Increased Caution," the Department of State added a "terrorism" risk indicator and an updated summary for Ecuador.
