Duolingo employees aren’t just fluent in languages — they’re pretty good savers, too.

Workers at the language-learning tech company based in East Liberty contributed an average of $16,952 of their own money to their 401(k) plans last year — the highest among local companies that have reported so far.

When you include the company match, the total contribution for Duolingo employees jumped to $25,939 per participant in 2024.

Those figures come from early 401(k) filings recently released by the U.S. Department of Labor and compiled by Benchmine, an online search engine that lets users compare more than 54,000 company retirement plans nationwide.
