Police said a woman and a 12-year-old boy were hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle while on the sidewalk in Homewood.
Pittsburgh Public Safety said it happened about 3 p.m. at the intersection of Monticello Street and North Murtland Street, adjacent to Westinghouse Academy.
When police arrived, they found the 12-year-old boy and adult woman injured on the sidewalk.
Police said the child had sustained traumatic injuries to his lower extremities and was sent to UPMC Children’s Hospital in critical condition before being taken into surgery.
The woman was sent to a hospital in stable condition, police said.
Police said the woman driving the vehicle involved stayed on the scene and cooperated with officers.
