STATEWIDE -- Modivcare CEO Heath Sampson is speaking out after local lawmakers last week urged the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to strip the company of its contract to supply MaineCare members with rides to medical appointments.
Modivcare is a national healthcare services company providing nonemergency medical transportation, as well as at-home health monitoring and personal care services.
In 2023, the company was awarded a 10-year $750 million contract to supply MaineCare members with rides to medical appointments, and according to Sampson, they also give roughly $30 million out to other small transportation companies to conduct similar services. Sampson also says his company is 1 of 3 organizations to be engaged in said contract.
