Cayce City Council held an executive session during a special-called meeting on Monday, Oct. 13, to discuss and receive legal advice related to communications between a City of Cayce elected official and a City of Cayce employee. The meeting was not attended by Cayce Mayor Elise Partin, who declared ahead of time that she would not participate in a process that didn't follow city procedures.

Adjourning from the more than three hour long executive session, City of Cayce Councilmen Tim James, Byron Thomas, Hunter Sox and Phil Carter voted 4-0 to engage Ryan Hicks, a private attorney with White & Story LLC, for the purpose of conducting an investigation into communications between a City of Cayce elected official and a City of Cayce employee.
