A former inmate was busted for allegedly trying to smuggle a large amount of cocaine into a local jail, according to officials.

Raymond Molina-Caraballo, 28, is facing charges in connection with the incident at the Bristol County House of Correction and Jail in Dartmouth.

Investigators from the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit had launched an investigation into the possibility that a former inmate — who had warrants out for his arrest — was going to turn himself in to authorities, so he could smuggle drugs into the jail and make a profit.

Investigators determined that Molina-Caraballo was the former inmate behind the scheme and began monitoring his activities.
