HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Department of Aging is reminding older adults that Medicare’s annual open enrollment period begins Wednesday, Oct. 15, and runs through Dec. 7.
During this time, beneficiaries can make changes to their health and prescription drug coverage for 2026, with any new plans taking effect Jan. 1, the department said.
Medicare open enrollment allows new beneficiaries to sign up for prescription drug coverage and Medicare Advantage plans, while current enrollees can review, switch or drop their coverage to better fit their needs.
Officials said the Department of Aging offers free, unbiased counseling through its Pennsylvania Medicare Education and Decision Insight program, known as PA MEDI.
