TWIGGS COUNTY, Ga. — After more than a decade of service, a loyal K-9 partner has stepped back from duty in the Twiggs County Sheriff's Office, while a new generation of K-9 teams has taken the oath, ready to serve the community.
Loki lent a helping paw for 11 years, using his sharp nose to track suspects, locate illegal drugs and assist in solving cases.
Sheriff Darren Mitchum praised Loki’s dedication at Wednesday's ceremony.
"You have served with loyalty, with courage and dedication, the years of service from 2014 to 2025."
Following Loki’s retirement, Sheriff Mitchum swore in three new K-9 handlers: Daniel Peavey with K-9 Drake, Alexa Marks with K-9 Bear, and Westley Harper with K-9 Thanos, who are stepping up to fill big paws with heart and skill.
