FRANZEN, Wis. (WFRV) - One person was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Thursday after a critical incident in Wisconsin.

According to the Marathon County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called shortly before 10:15 a.m. for a welfare check on an individual who reportedly made concerning statements of self-harm.

After several hours of search and coordination, deputies located the man shortly before 1:15 p.m. in the 182600 block of Comet Road in the Town of Franzen.

The individual armed himself with a knife during contact with law enforcement. Deputies used negotiation and less-than-lethal interventions to attempt to safely disarm him.
