LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The Kentucky Humane Society announced Wednesday it will be starting construction in November on a new Animal and Community Campus, where staff say they will be able to have all animal services under one roof.

They also say it will have more space to accommodate a growing demand, both in the metro and throughout the state.

“It’s the best time possible to do something like this. It’s needed for our city and our state. Right now, access to care is very difficult for people,” said KHS president and CEO, Alisa Gray.

Gray told WAVE accessibility to animal care will be one of the main goals with this new 54,000 square foot facility off of Preston Highway.

The facility will also increase the number of people and animals that staff can serve.
