ELKHART, Ind. (WNDU) - In Elkhart the school district held the state of the district meeting with the community members.
Superintendent Larry Huff shared his plan to mitigate the expected negative impacts of the budget cuts followed by the Indiana Senate Enrolled Act 1.
About 80 people filled in the seats of Adamsville Road Church in Elkhart to attend the meeting.
The Elkhart Community Schools organized Wednesday’s event, and Superintendent Larry Huff talked about some upcoming changes to the school district.
One of the major changes is the consolidation of classrooms and buildings.
Huff said, while Elkhart Community Schools are now designed to accommodate over 17,000 students, there are only about 10,000 students.
He added that only 58% of elementary school classrooms are used.
