SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The Martin Luther King Jr. Center held an event on Wednesday night to mark 30 years since South Bend men traveled to the nation’s capital to inspire unity.
We’re talking about the Million Man March of 1995.
It was then when over 800,000 African American men from across the U.S. traveled to Washington, D.C. in one of the largest rallies in the city’s history.
Hosted by the Nation of Islam, it was here they addressed problems and promoted unity and revitalization of African American communities.
In South Bend, attendees were able to hear stories of those who were present at the historic moment as it unfolded.
